Each year, Tri-State EMC takes three high school juniors to Washington, D.C., as part of the Georgia Electric membership Cooperative Washington Youth Tour to learn about history, government and leadership. Health concerns prevented the 2022 trip so the co-op presented a scholarship to the 2022 winners.
The winners of the 2022 Tri-State EMC Writing Competition Scholarship were Isabella Brown, from Copper Basin High School; McKenzie Chastain from Fannin County High School, and Emily Parker from Hiwassee Dam High School. Each of these students will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the college or trade school of his/her choice.
Whether it be through the Youth Tour program or scholarships, supporting the future of these students and the communities they represent is an investment that will create a brighter future for us all,” says Stacy Chastain, General Manager of Tri-State EMC. “We are excited to see them grow their talents and knowledge. The entire team at Tri-State EMC is rooting for their success, and we are confident they will each find ways to impact our communities in the future.”
